As a result of being the most searched cocktail on Google, the Margarita has been named the UK's favourite cocktail.
A study conducted by event management company MGN Events revealed the ten most popular cocktails in the UK based on Google search data.
Over 350 cocktail recipes were analyzed based on search terms such as 'Margarita recipe', 'How to make a Margarita', and 'Margarita ingredients'.
A total of 83,750 searches were conducted each month on the Tequila-based Margarita cocktail in the UK.
A monthly search volume of 80,600 was recorded by Pornstar Martini in second place.
The Mojito ranked third with 71,290 searches, followed by the Espresso Martini with 56,690.
Taking the fifth spot were searches for rum-based Pia Coladas (51,710), Old Fashioneds (44,590), Cosmopolitans (40,410), Negronis (28,620), and Aperol Spritzes (27,590).
There were 26,510 Google searches for mulled wine in the UK, making it the 10th most popular drink.
According to Matthew Strange, creative director at MGN Events: "Regardless of the occasion, serving cocktails when entertaining can add an element of luxury and sophistication - but there are so many options to choose from it can be hard to narrow it down."
“Fortunately, the study has determined that Brits’ favourite cocktails are quite varied given the range of ingredients, specifically the alcohol, including Tequila, vodka, and white rum.”
